The Dead Kennedys dabbled in New Wave music ;-)

The story behind it was they were invited to a music awards show, but they promoted them as a new wave band to make them more appealing to labels and an older audience. They showed up with their ties over their backs and practiced playing California Uber Alles, but played this when they went up to perform.
